The next day, the line to pick up tubes was easily an hour long. This place seemed either incredibly understaffed or the employees weren't trained properly - I'm not sure which. Either way, they did not appear to be set up to be able to handle the volume of people that they were trying to process.
Overall had a good time even with cold weather. It took us 90 minutes to check in because the only person working was in training, also took us 50 minutes just to get our tubes. Need a better system that makes this easier and faster. Showers need upgraded as the shower heads only had trickles of water that came out.
Been there past 2 years and have had an awesome time both years. Has turned into a every summer get away. Recommend to anyone who just wants to relax and drink some beers
Arrived at 10pm and had to wait in line at the gate for 30+ minutes to get checked in because there were only two people processing one vehicle every few minutes and there were a dozen or so cars in front of us. Seems pretty excessive, especially since the website touts filling out the waiver ahead of time to save time, but we still had to wait for everyone in front of us to fill it out.
Overall a fun place to drink and tube, and I think they probably have the nicest campground for doing so, but next time I'd probably save my money and the super long wait and just go to rivers edge instead.
If you have kids, tubing is Great, Camping is not. We were able to get our tubes and get right in the river. We met lots of friendly people all the way down, the buses were running quickly. My niece did get a bit banged up on the rapids at the end but was bandaged up at the bus drop off. The kids loved it...Camping however, campers are packed in like sardines right on top of the site beside you. Loud base thumped through out the night from several locations, drunken yelling all night long followed by morning surprises of not only finding someone pass out in our site but someone had peed on the back of our kids tent.
Great on the Apple river camp ground! Nice clean campground with a nice bar walking distance from camp sites with a great DJ on Friday and Saturday nights! A little spendy on the fees when you check in, a garbage fee, car fee and tubing fee all on top of the camp site fee.. fun and worth it though, always a good time!
Cool place to camp if you are tubing but that's about it. Other places in Somerset have cheaper rates than this one, and shorter lines.
